Prior to the release of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, I predicted that Naughty Dog was working on their next stellar title – the next sequel to the Last of us franchise. Last of Us 2 has officially been announced at the PlayStation Experience event.
Titled Last of Us Part II, the game will be a follow-up of the previous game, Naughty Dogs highly praised game and it will feature Ellie who is now 19-years old. As expected, the game will also include Joel, one of the games main protagonists in the first installment.
Unfortunately, Naughty Dogs director and writer Neil Druckmann confirmed in a PlayStation gaming blog that the game is far from being completed.
“I can’t tell you how satisfying it is to finally be able to say that Ellie and Joel are back for another intense, harrowing, and emotional adventure,” he wrote.
“Like many of you, we have a deep love for the world of The Last of Us and its characters, and while a sequel may have seemed like a foregone conclusion, that wasn’t the case.
“We knew that it needed to be a story worth telling and, perhaps more importantly, a story worthy of Joel and Ellie. After spending years on different ideas (and almost giving up), we finally uncovered a story that felt special – a story that evolved into an epic journey.”
So far there’s no official release launch date just yet, but Naughty dog have confirmed that there will be more news over the next couple of months.
